SR 417 SOUND WALL INFORMATION MEETING JUNE 10, 2010
Posted By: Lindsay HodgesRelease Date:6/10/2010
The Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA) is planning to increase capacity by adding
additional lanes on SR 417 (Central Florida Greeneway), from SR 528 (Martin B. Andersen Beachline
Expressway) to Curry Ford Road. The planned improvements include widening SR 417 from four to six
lanes, improving traffic operations on the northbound ramp from Curry Ford Road and installing a sound
wall along the east side of SR 417.
The OOCEA encourages continued public involvement throughout the design phase. Public involvement
is a key study component to enhance project understanding of roadway improvements, the project
schedule, and the benefits of the improvements. A Sound Wall Information Meeting is scheduled for
Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Center Pointe Church of the Nazarene, 9580 Curry Ford Road,
Orlando, Florida 32825, Room Number 1081 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., for the public to review the
sound wall concepts for this project.
The OOCEA performs noise studies during the design phase of capacity improvement projects. As part
of this SR 417 project, a noise analysis was conducted and locations were identified where a sound wall
is a viable measure to reduce traffic noise. The OOCEA is now seeking feedback from residents that may
be affected by the proposed sound walls to determine support for the construction of these sound walls.
The proposed sound wall concepts will be presented at the June 10th meeting. The meeting will be an
open-house format where members of the public will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with
members of the project team in-depth.
